Anatomy of a planting plan

Writer: Alison JohnstonAlison Johnston

Building on my previous post about a concept plan, here's the scoop on what goes into a planting plan.

The simplest type of planting plan is a simple aerial view of the garden with symbols for the plants. It's not a picture of how the garden will look, because in most cases the plants will come and go during different phases of the seasons, but we'll come to that. Plants are marked with a symbol and is connected to a label of the quanity and type of plant.

IN this case, the client already had a lot of established plants that we wanted to design with and around, so this 3D visual shows the new plants in relation to the existing ones.

Adding even more detail is this seasonal analysis, showing how plants in the same area would work across the different seasons to have interest at all times.
