Tatton: Escape the T rex!

Updated: Sep 19, 2023

Inspired by a border I created for my own children, this Long Border design is all about play. Thick, lush, jungle-like leaves that hide hunting dinosaurs introduce kids to nature’s different textures, colours and shapes. Child- and animal-safe plants are chosen for their resilience and toughness, as well as texture and fragrance. A ridge of boulders, evocative of a pre-historic landscape, acts as a divider between a sunny, dry side, and a more shaded side, reflecting common conditions in home gardens. A small puddly pond hides a submerged solar fountain while big rocks and mossy sticks provide structure as well as habitat for mini-beasts.

You can now see this intro and image on the RHS website, alongside the other 'Long Borders'.

For younger visitors, there is a short 'Adventure pack' for them to complete to help them explore the mini-garden.
