Before the redesign, this garden was dominated by an overgrown lavendar plant and featured a small lumpy lawn that was too small to really sit out and enjoy. The brief was to make a space which was more flexible for sitting and dining, and with space for maintaining the couples bicycles. The client had lots of ideas so I drew up three concepts for them to compare. They chose this simple design which draws on their love of cycling! During the build the client decided to swap the awning for a sail shade, which works really well on this sunny site. The garden has been planted up by the client, and although they've had their autumn chop just before the pictures, the garden is still a lovely space to sit.
